CURRENTLY ACCEPTING FALL ITEMS IN SIZE 5 AND UNDER. I WILL BE ACCEPTING FALL IT ALL SIZES IN A FEW WEEKS. Wait to bring in sweatshirts, sweaters, cords, wool, etc until I'm accepting winter items. Please come in before 4pm to consign
At Emily's Closet our mission is to accept excellent quality clothing in a friendly atmosphere and display this clothing in a pleasant, uncluttered boutique to maximize the earnings to consignors while giving exceptional value to customers.
What does this mean? We have to be PICKY about what we accept for consignment, and you will make more money! There will be items that meet all of the criteria below that we will not able to accept for consignment. Why? We have to consider what we already have in stock, and make sure we are able to offer a wide variety to our customers. Typically, we are able to accept one half to one third of what is brought in.
WHAT TO CONSIGN
|
- Children's (size newborn - 14) and maternity clothing and accessories in excellent condition (no stains, missing buttons, broken zippers, fading, pilling, etc) that you purchased new during the last couple of years and are not from discount stores (Target, Wal-mart, etc). For clothing under 12 months - I only consign items that are new with tags. Do you have more than one bin of clothes to bring in? I recommend you stagger when you bring them in - I'll be able to accept more of your items and you will make more money that way.
- Laundered within the last week (try using fabric softener - your clothes will smell GREAT!). Please wipe down shoes before bringing them in. Please do not bring clothes in on hangers or in trash bags (putting clothes FLAT in a laundry basket keeps clothes looking the best).
- "Ready to be sold" condition. Please see that clothing is not excessively wrinkled. How to easily achieve this? Take clothing out of the dryer immediately - this should be all you need to do for most garments. A few items may need a quick "once over" with the iron. The better your clothes look, the quicker they will sell, and the quicker you will get money!
- Cute - Cute sells; not-so-cute does not sell as well. Please look through each item and ask yourself..."Would I be excited to find this if I were shopping?" or "Would I be willing to give this as a gift?" If yes, bring it in!
- In season: February - April: Spring clothing; May - August: Summer clothing; late August - September: Fall clothing; October - January: Winter clothing. These months are approximate and may vary based on weather - call and ask what I'm currently taking! The earlier in the season you bring it in, the higher it can be priced and the more money you will make!
- Children's books and DVDs in excellent condition.
